About
Lory “Stewy” Stewart has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Studies from the University of Texas at Austin with a minor in Speech Communications and has been directing and teaching for over 30 years (Theatre, Speech and Debate). Stewart has directed almost 100 plays and musicals. An educator, playwright, actor, author and public speaker, Stewart has spoken to over 5,000 teens, parents and counselors about Teen Dating Violence and has directed musicals with adults with Special Needs since 2004. Founder and director of Actors Anonymous Theatre Company (www.TheDramaQueens.com) since 1997, in 2024 Stewart created a curriculum, Adaptive Musical Theatre with Supportive Peers, for ALL students with Special Needs (www.CEDFA.org), including those who are nonverbal and non-ambulatory. A Double Diamond Coach in the National Speech and Debate Association, Stewart has coached many State Champions, as well as State and National finalists. A recipient of the Texas UIL Sponsor Excellence Award, Texas Thespian Golden Apple Award, Hays CISD Ambassador Award Fine Arts Employee of the Year and Superintendents Coin of Excellence. Stewart married her college sweetheart and has two sons.
